Memorandum of Understanding to explore collaborative opportunities across future naval programmes with Arrowhead 140 platform as initial focus area
Everllence and Babcock International Group (Babcock), the defence company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore a strategic partnership that will strengthen the delivery and future development of the globally successful Arrowhead frigate platform..
The two companies signed the MoU at Euronaval, the major, international, naval defence and maritime security exhibition, in Paris. Sir Nick Hine, Chief Growth Officer and Chief Executive - Marine signed the memorandum on behalf of Babcock, while Lene Kragh, Vice President, Head of Propeller Business, Karsten Bornemann, Head of Sales, Propeller & Aft Ship, Benjamin Andres, Vice President, Head of Medium- & High-Speed Four-Stroke Marine, and Ruben Fernandez, Head of High-Speed signed for Everllence.
Under the proposed partnership framework, Everllence would become a strategic partner for power and propulsion systems across future Arrowhead programmes.
The MoU also provides an outline for future dialogue and cooperation between the two companies and reflects their shared commitment to exploring innovative solutions that enhance operational performance, reliability and long-term support for naval customers.
Under the terms of the MoU, the two parties will explore opportunities for cooperation across future naval programmes, building on their respective expertise within naval platforms, propulsion solutions and lifecycle support.
The collaboration originates from discussions regarding Babcock’s Arrowhead 140 platform, and creates a framework to evaluate opportunities, including future requirements within the Danish naval market – such as its Arctic Frigate project – and other international programmes.
The Arrowhead 140 is a modern, modular frigate design developed by Babcock and intended as a flexible base-platform that different navies can customise with their own weapons, sensors, propulsion and combat systems.
Sir Nick Hine – Chief Executive Marine, Babcock – said: "Arrowhead has established itself as one of the world's leading frigate designs, combining proven capability with adaptability to meet the evolving needs of allied navies. As interest in the platform continues to grow internationally, partnerships such as with Everllence will ensure we can offer customers not only a world-class warship, but the industrial expertise, innovation and long-term support needed to maximise operational advantage throughout its service life. We look forward to growing our partnership.”
Thomas Leander – Vice President, Head of Solutions & Site Manager Frederikshavn, Everllence – said: "This agreement marks an important step in building a closer relationship between Everllence and Babcock. The combination of the proven Arrowhead 140 platform and Everllence's propulsion and power-generation expertise provides a strong foundation for exploring future opportunities together. While Arrowhead 140 was the starting point for our discussions, this cooperation is intended to identify additional areas where both companies can contribute to future naval capabilities and customer requirements."
