Waste energy share: Percentage of the energy demand (eg. steam generation for CO₂ capture process/district heating/heat recovery) supplied by usable waste energy. This range varies significantly depending on the application. Values from 20-60 % can be assumed depending on the application.
CO₂ price: Carbon prices are projected to reach around €145/tCO₂ in 2030, €220/tCO₂ in 2040, and €300/tCO₂ in 2050. These figures are indicative estimates based on current policy and market assumptions and may vary significantly depending on future regulations, technology adoption, and market developments.
Discount rate: The interest rate used to convert future cash flows into today’s dollar value. A higher rate reflects greater financial risk and shrinks the value of future carbon revenues.
