Evolving manufacturing process, same high quality
Our two-stroke engines were originally built in Copenhagen. To allow our team in Denmark to focus on research and development, manufacturing activities in the country were stopped in the 1980s. We have since devoted our time to increase our knowledge base and made every effort to further develop and perfect the two-stroke engine principle.
On the four-stroke side, we are still producing engines and GenSets using the latest technologies at our own facilities. In addition, our family of licensees allows us to maintain a broad and trusted portfolio of propulsion engines and GenSets that extends well beyond our in-house production.
Global manufacturing power
Previously, European manufacturers were well represented in our licensee family. In recent decades, the emergence of tiger economies has changed the map so that Asia is dominating the representation today.
The history of our licensing began with Kawasaki, which introduced the diesel engine to Japan through an agreement in 1911. Mitsui of Japan has held a licence to build B&W engines since 1926 and is thus the oldest of our two-stroke licensees. Korea's and China's emergence as global manufacturing powers has meant that many of our now most active licensees are now based there.
The licenses are limited to specific models. We are using the following symbols to indicate the type of license:
T: Everllence B&W (former MAN B&W) two-stroke license
F: Everllence (former MAN) four-stroke license
TC: Everllence (former MAN) turbocharger license
