Maximize cylinder liner lifetime with cermet-coated piston rings

Engineered for optimal combustion, efficiency, and lasting surface protection.

Everllence piston rings are precision-engineered to optimize combustion performance, fuel efficiency, emissions, and lube oil retention. Our cermet-coated rings provide the best possible protection against scuffing and seizure, ensuring your cylinder liners remain protected and your engines stay reliable. With stricter sulphur-emission limits through SECA zones and the 2020 sulphur cap, all engines — new and existing — must meet compliance requirements or risk costly penalties. However, prolonged operation on low-sulphur fuels can disturb the delicate balance between piston rings and cylinder liners, increasing the risk of micro-seizures and scuffing that can lead to expensive, time-consuming repairs. Everllence cermet-coated piston rings provide superior surface stability and wear resistance, even during extended low-sulphur operation. The three-ring pack design further helps maximize combustion performance and minimize emissions—extending liner lifetime and maintaining efficiency.

Why Everllence cermet-coated piston rings make the difference

Engineered for regulatory compliance
2020

Our cermet-coated piston rings are a key part of the Everllence portfolio designed to meet the strict sulphur-emission limits introduced with the IMO 2020 regulation. They help ensure long-term compliance without compromising performance.

Protection under low-sulphur operation
0.5
%

Even when operating on fuels with 0.5 % sulphur or lower, Everllence cermet-coated piston rings effectively minimize scuffing and wear risks — keeping your cylinder liners protected and performance consistent.

Standard on every engine
100
%

All new Everllence engines now feature cermet-coated piston rings as standard. Proven in service and trusted worldwide, they deliver unmatched reliability and protection across the
entire two-stroke portfolio.

Get long-term performance and protection

Our piston rings are precisely engineered to work seamlessly with Everllence engines, ensuring lasting protection and reliable operation throughout your engine’s lifetime.

Alucoat is a thin running-in layer that smoothens the initial operation of the piston rings within the cylinder liners. It has a distinctive yellow appearance and is applied to all rings—including those with cermet coating.
The layer typically wears off within the first few months of operation, and in some cases after as few as 1,000 running hours, revealing the underlying cast iron surface.

Everllence cermet-coated piston rings provide highly effective protection against scuffing and seizures—even during prolonged operation on low-sulphur fuels (ULSFO and VLSFO).
Cermet is a composite coating made of ceramic and metallic materials. This combination delivers outstanding elastic durability and high resistance to temperature and seizure.
Even in cases of temporary oil film breakdown, cermet-coated rings continue to perform reliably once the film is restored—allowing normal operation until the next scheduled overhaul.

Key benefits:

  • Low friction
  • Reduced lube oil consumption
  • Extended cylinder liner lifetime
  • Safe and reliable running-in
  • Maximized piston operational time
  • Improved time between overhauls
