Proven FCC turnaround success stories
Examine two of our recent projects and see how we work to reduce downtime and ensure FCC units continue to operate efficiency, safety, and in compliance with regulations.
“Your team did a great job in spring 2024 during our FCC TAR. And it’s good to share that – after all the hard work – the unit performs well.”
Henk Zorge, Turnaround project lead, Shell
Reference case
Shell in Pernis (Rotterdam), 2024
Shell’s refinery in Pernis required a new FCC reactor. Everllence delivered a complete solution – covering planning, manufacturing, and on-site assembly – within the specified timeframe. The reactor measured 30 meters in length, 8 meters in diameter, and weighed 438 metric tons. Planning began in October 2022, and the on-site phase was completed by March 2024. The shutdown lasted just 42 days. In addition to replacing the reactor, we also performed general repair work.
Reference case
Mineraloelraffinerie Oberrhein (MiRO) in Karlsruhe, 2021
MiRO is Germany’s largest and most advanced refinery. In 2021, the FCC unit required inspection and repair work. We replaced the cyclone system to change the yield structure and improve margins. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the turnaround was completed on schedule. The shutdown lasted just 38 days. To save time, we preassembled the cyclone system into a complete upper section and shipped it by sea from Deggendorf to Karlsruhe.
